About Us

Since our beginning, we have been dedicated to creating space away from the regular rhythms of everyday life—space where God can transform hearts and minds.

Jackson’s Point Retreat & Conference Centre is a lakeside retreat and conference centre in Ontario, located one hour from Toronto on Lake Simcoe, offering a peaceful setting for group retreats, conferences, and faith-based gatherings. Operated by The Governing Council of the Salvation Army in Canada, we welcome churches, Christian ministries, non-profit organizations, corporate teams, and community groups seeking space for rest, connection, and purpose.

We endeavour to be a place where transformation happens. More than a place of rest, Jackson’s Point is a place of renewal and restoration—a setting where individuals and groups can slow down, reflect, and listen for the voice of God in a peaceful lakeside environment.

The History of JPRCC

Early Origins (c. 1907–1917)

  • The Salvation Army began operating summer camps in the Jackson’s Point area around 1907, offering a peaceful retreat for families, youth groups, and church attendees. These early camps laid the spiritual and communal groundwork that continues to define JPRCC.

First Land Acquisition (1917)

  • In 1917, The Salvation Army purchased the first 20-acre parcel—known as Camp #1—located on what is now the site of the Retreat & Conference Centre. This acquisition marked the formal establishment of a permanent camping facility at Jackson’s Point.

Expansion Post–World War II (1944)

  • Responding to growing demand, The Salvation Army acquired the adjacent 195-acre Scott Farm in 1944. This significant expansion enabled the creation of a broader retreat infrastructure, including cabins, meeting spaces, lakeside access, and many of the amenities and complexes on the Shoreline Camp.

Evolution into a Retreat & Conference Centre

  • Over the following decades, the facility expanded its offerings beyond summer camps, gradually transforming into a year-round retreat and conference centre. Nestled on the shores of Lake Simcoe, the site now includes multiple accommodation buildings, chapels, meeting rooms, and recreational spaces—serving school groups, families, church gatherings, corporate teams, and spiritual retreats.

Grand Reopening & Modern Vision (2024–2025)

  • In November 2024, JPRCC unveiled a major renovation and modernization project. A formal grand reopening celebration was held in early January 2025.

  • Built around the theme “Come away with me, to a quiet place, and find rest” (Mark 6:31), the renovations reaffirm JPRCC’s mission to offer restorative, spiritually oriented experiences.

Today & Beyond

  • JPRCC is now a vibrant centre for rest, renewal, and community. With its mix of natural beauty, comfortable amenities, and spiritual heritage, the centre serves as an inviting retreat destination. Its continued operations—covering family stays, corporate retreats, church events, school outings, and spiritual retreats—honour a legacy of hospitality that originated over a century ago.
